Dawntoya Thomason

I believe that everyone deserves a functional, beautiful, and comfortable home that they can be proud of. Your home should display your design style and yet it should also reflect the personhood, dignity, culture, joy and personality of those who live there. That is my intention with design. A beautifully designed home is not just for the elite or for the ones who make it onto tv shows… Design belongs to us all.

  • Take a moment to dream about what your home or a space within the home could be. Write it out, find inspiration and allow yourself to dream.

  • Think about what you have financially to invest in your dream design. Plan carefully so that you are ready with a goal at the time of your consultation. Consider your must haves while being open to the process.

  • Design is a process. There are timelines and moments of effort and work, but you are creating your place of beauty, comfort and peace so enjoy it!

Design is in the Details

Everyone’s home is different! Neutral, eclectic, masculine, feminine… Modern, Traditional, Maximalist, Minimalist…Either of these styles can be beautiful. The overall success of a design is in its details. Life can be hectic and you don’t always have the time to put the details into your home. That is my favorite thing to do. From start to finish renovation projects to choosing all the finishes and choices for a new build, to the decor throughout the home I live in and love the details. It would be a privilege to be apart of your project.

A Couple of Tips

Gallery Wall with Depth

Add a little depth to your gallery wall like I’ve done with this candelabra. It’s a great way to add interest. *But don’t burn the candles. I’m only lighting them for this GIF and because I personally don’t like to leave the wick “new.”

It’s ok to Hide

I love to keep a basket in a living space with an extra blanket or pillow and there’s no better place to keep it than in front of an unsightly outlet. My gallery wall goes to the ground so I’ve added the basket as part of the gallery decor as well as to hide the outlet. Don’t want a basket there? Make the outlet a part of the design and change out the face plate with a more ornate design!
